Vocal Point-Dr. Mark Beliles
Bad news travels fast. Good news doesn’t seem to travel as quickly. We all know of the bad news from Charlottesville from August 12, where a young lady even died as out-of-town protesters descended on the city because of the city’s plans to tear down a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. What the vast majority of us do not know about is that recently in Charlottesville, a black minister (Dr. Alvin Edwards) and a white minister (Dr. Mark Beliles) organized a rally (Dec. 1 and 2) called “Healing 4 Charlottesville.” A. Larry Ross Communications writes, “National leaders joined the city’s Christian community Saturday for Healing4Charlottesville, a day of prayer to encourage peace, healing and reconciliation after the tragic racial violence of last summer.” Mark Beliles joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss healing the great racial divide in America through the love of Jesus Christ. www.healing4charlottesville.com
