Dan Quayle once quipped that if he knew one day he’d have to travel to Latin America, he would have studied Latin more diligently back in high school.

Here is a Latin sentence: “Magnificat anima mea Dominum.” This is what Mary, the mother of Jesus, says in Luke 1, in a song of praise we call the Magnificat.
