Best-selling author and speaker Bill Federer wrote a book called Endangered Speeches, which explains the history of the IRS and how an obscure amendment pushed through by LBJ in 1954 came to limit the rights of churches and pastors to address political issues. Before he was elected president, Donald Trump promised a group of about 1000 Christian leaders (among them, Bill Federer) that he would strive to countermand that amendment to limit the political speech of churches.
