Vocal Point-Hans Von Spakavsky

Topic: The Border Crisis

There is a crisis at America’s southern border. A poignant example of that is the 25-year old would-be economic refugee who tragically drowned in a river, along with his infant daughter, in order to try and illegally immigrate to America. Yet some Americans today say that there is no border crisis, and there is no need to secure the border. Hans von Spakovsky is a senior fellow with the conservative think-tank, the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. Recently, along with Greg Walsh, von Spakovsky wrote an article for Heritage entitled, “How Open Borders and Sanctuary Policies Victimize (and Kill) Americans.” They note, “The supporters of open borders and sanctuary policies that obstruct enforcement of our immigration laws must be overjoyed by the latest report from the Department of Homeland Security. The Border Patrol intercepted more than 144,000 illegal aliens at the southwest border in May, the largest monthly total in more than a dozen years. Those who push these policies should be ashamed of themselves.” Hans von Spakovsky joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the border crisis. www.heritage.org   @HvonSpakovsky
