Vocal Point-John Eidsmoe

Topic: Christianity and the Constitution

A classic book on the Christian roots of America was first released in 1987 by law professor John Eidsmoe, entitled, Christianity and the Constitution. But today we are often told that the founders intended a “godless constitution.” Eidsmoe disagrees with that point. In fact, John Eidsmoe notes that the founding fathers gave us a 5-fold formula for freedom, including 1. Limited, delegated power. 2. Separation of powers (because man is basically sinful). 3. Checks and balances. 4. Reserved individual rights. 5. Responsibility through religion. John Eidsmoe joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the founding fathers’ intent for the Constitution and how it is not godless. www.morallaw.org
