Topic: Is the Salvation Army Going Woke?

Historically, the Salvation Army has been one of the great Christian movements of all time. But has the organization recently been infested with “critical race theory”? Critics note that, in the name of supposedly fighting racism, critical race theory, ironically, actually promotes racism. Whites are bad per se because they’re white per se. There’s only so much blacks can accomplish in our society, no matter how hard they try, because systemic racism is keeping them down, etc. Has the Salvation Army fallen for this Marxist teaching? Kenny Xu (pronounced Shoe) believes the answer is yes, unfortunately. Kenny has taken issue with the Salvation Army’s claim that they have not gone “woke.” Kenny Xu is the author of An Inconvenient Minority: The Attack on Asian American Excellence and the Fight for Meritocracy, and he’s the president of Color Us United, which is an organization dedicated to what Martin Luther King, Jr. wanted: a true colorblind society. Like many of us, he prays the Salvation Army will purge itself of these wrong views and get back on the right track soon. Kenny Xu recently wrote an op-ed about the Salvation Army in the Wall Street Journal. Kenny Xu joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the Salvation Army on wokeness and racism. www.colorusunited.org
