Topic: The Plymouth Monument.
In 1889, to honor the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution, the Eiffel Tower opened in Paris. At the time, it was the tallest building in the world. But here in America, in 1889, another towering structure was unveiled, if you will. It’s the largest granite statue in America, and it is in Plymouth, MA. It’s called the Forefathers Monument. Kirk Cameron made a movie about it a decade ago—“Monumental.” On the 100th anniversary of the Forefathers Monument, Dr. D. James Kennedy (the ultimate founder of this radio outlet) spoke to commemorate the 100th anniversary of this amazing faith-promoting statue. There’s quite a contrast between what these two towering structures represent. The French Revolution was anti-God and ended up with the flowing of rivers of blood. In contrast, the Pilgrim legacy was pro-God, and they ended up helping to create the United States of America—a constitutional republic that has proved to be a model for other countries, as one nation under God. Not perfect, but successful nonetheless. Michelle Gallagher of Plymouth has put together a beautiful, coffee table picture book that celebrates the monument, its message, and its history. The book is called, Forefathers Monument Guidebook.
