Topic: The Boston Massacre.
We are now celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday, when we remember the acceptance of the Declaration of Independence by voice vote by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. Meanwhile, there was in event in early March 1770 on the streets of Boston that was very significant and helped eventually lead to the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. I refer to the Boston Massacre. What actually happened then and why was it so significant? And how did Samuel Adams, the lightning rod for the American Revolution, have anything to do with that melee? Historian Jane Hampton Cook, author of such books as Stories of Faith and Courage from the Revolutionary War, joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the Boston Massacre. www.janecook.com
