Statement from Dr. Alveda King on the Importance of Christians Voting This Midterm

I write a weekly column. My current one is on the importance of Christians showing up and voting our Biblical values during this midterm session.

Through the years, I have had the privilege to interview Dr. Alveda King, primarily on her pro-life views. She is the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Evangelist Dr. Alveda King is the founder and director of “Speak for Life.” Here is her statement to Jerry Newcombe for my column on how important it is for Christians to show up and vote our values, even during the midterms.

Evangelist Dr. Alveda King told me, “Don’t let a poll or a headline talk you out of voting. Polls don’t cast ballots. People do.

“God made us of one blood, one human family, and we have a responsibility to care for our neighbors and the generations coming behind us. Pray for wisdom. Examine the candidates and their policies.

“Vote your faith, not your fear. Let your convictions guide your choices, and treat those who disagree with dignity. Whatever the predictions say, do your part. Don’t surrender your voice before you have used it.” -Evangelist Dr. Alveda King, Founder/President, Speak for Life
