The late Donald S. Lutz of the University of Houston once said that the founding fathers—all of them, even the few that were not orthodox (small o)—knew the Bible down to their fingertips. Another scholar, Dr. Daniel Dreisbach, a professor at American University, said, “The American founders read the Bible.” Dr. Dreisbach wrote a book on the founders and the Scriptures.
