Vocal Point-Dr. Greg Seltz
Topic: Religious Influence in Society—a Blessing or an Unwelcome Intrusion?
America’s founders wisely chose to not allow a state-church at the national level. There would be no Church of America like there was a Church of England, to which all citizens must conform. Historically, that was understood to be the meaning of the First Amendment to the Constitution. But lately, many secularists view any Christian influence in the public arena as an unwelcome intrusion, supposedly even an unconstitutional intrusion. But critics note that the founders welcomed voluntary religious influence in society. Dr. Gregory P. Seltz, the executive director of the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty, fights for religious liberty in America out of his Washington, D.C.-based office. Dr. Gregory Seltz, the speaker emeritus on the Lutheran Hour, joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss religious influence in society. www.lcrlfreedom.org
