Topic: Some Insights on Ben Franklin.

One of our key founding fathers was Ben Franklin. Although he was not an orthodox Christian, he did make a passionate speech on behalf of prayer during the Constitutional convention. That speech may well have broken through a logjam in the proceedings. Recently, historian Jane Cook, a former White House speech writer, made a video on the 320 birthday of Franklin, in which was discussed his role as the father of free speech in America. The last thing Ben Franklin requested from Congress was that they abolish slavery. This was just a few weeks before he died. Jane Hampton Cook, author of such books as Stories of Faith and Courage from the Revolutionary War, joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss Ben Franklin. www.janecook.com
