Jesus Quote Behind George Washington’s Tomb

Mount Vernon is one of the most visited places in America. George and Martha Washington are buried on the grounds there. Behind their sarcophagi is a sign that quotes Jesus Christ, who said that people who believe in Him will live, even though they die.

Jesus said in John 11: “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

In 2004, while working on research for the book that became, George Washington’s Sacred Fire, authors Dr. Peter Lillback and Jerry Newcombe visited Mount Vernon. Here are a few of those photos—especially the quote from Jesus behind Washington’s stone coffin.
