Vocal Point-Chief Justice Thomas Parker

Topic: Sir William Blackstone and the Declaration of Independence.

Our Declaration of Independence references “the laws of nature and of nature’s God.” The chief justice of Alabama’s Supreme Court Thomas Parker, notes that such phraseology reflects the influence of Sir William Blackstone, who wrote four commentaries on the laws of England in the 1700s. These books were very important to America’s founders. Chief Justice Parker has spent years studying Blackstone and even collects copies of Blackstone’s commentaries. Chief Justice Thomas Parker joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss Sir William Blackstone and America’s Declaration of Independence.
