Vocal Point-Dr. Greg Seltz

Topic: Church-State Relations.

America’s founders wisely chose to not allow a state-church at the national level. There would be no Church of America like there was a Church of England, to which all citizens must conform. Historically, that was understood to be the meaning of the opening of the First Amendment to the Constitution, which says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” But in the middle of the last century, the Supreme Court changed the meaning of that to the notion of a strict separation of church and state. Dr. Gregory P. Seltz, the executive director of the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty, fights for religious liberty in America out of his Washington, D.C.-based office. Dr. Gregory Seltz, the speaker emeritus on the Lutheran Hour, joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss church-state relations. www.lcrlfreedom.org
