Thomas Jefferson is one of our most important founding fathers. He wrote the first draft of the Declaration of Independence, which says our rights come from the Creator. When it comes to Jefferson and his faith, it is a very nuanced picture. In fact, I once co-wrote on a book on this called “Doubting Thomas.” The co-author was Dr. Mark Beliles of Charlottesville, Jefferson’s home town. Beliles co-founded Providence Foundation to educate people about American history, in particular our Christian roots.
