Topic: Drug Addiction.
In the book of Galatians, the Apostle Paul contrasts the sins of the flesh, which lead to death. One of those things listed is often translated as “sorcery.” But the word in Greek is pharmakeia. We get the word pharmacy from that. Nothing wrong with the local drug store for aspirin and cough medicine. But there is something wrong with the abuse of drugs—and there’s a lot of that going on today. Unfortunately, Christians are not always immune. However, God gives us grace to help us in our battles with addictions—including drug and alcohol abuse.
