Vocal Point-Scott Phillips

Topic: Anti-Semitism and Israel.

In 1790, George Washington, the father of our country, a devout Christian, wrote to the synagogue in Newport, Rhode Island, “The Citizens of the United States of America have a right to applaud themselves for having given to mankind examples of an enlarged and liberal policy: a policy worthy of imitation. All possess alike liberty of conscience and immunities of citizenship…. For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens.” Here is America, Jews and other groups are free to practice their religion, “and there shall be none to make them afraid.” But when we look at modern America especially after the October 7th attack in Israel by Hamas, we see anti-Semitism rearing its ugly head in ways rarely seen in America. Scott Phillips, who directs Passages to Israel, joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the problem of anti-Semitism. www.passagesIsrael.org
