Large swaths of Americans today feel that our nation is headed in the wrong way. Much of that has to do with the way God has been systematically drummed up out of American education. And yet Sam Adams, one of America’s greatest founding fathers, said that young people in school should learn “the fear and love for the Deity and universal philanthropy, and in subordination to these great principles the love of their country; of instructing them in the art of self-government.” Respect for God and for country seem to be among the last priority of most of our schools today.
